Striped panels and Aruki panels

Striped panels and Aruki panels
Today was another sunny but cold day. From the morning, I worked on pasting the 5-sun yosegi sheets that I prepared yesterday onto the boards. Before that, I should mention that the nested set of Mame puzzle boxes and 2.5-sun puzzle boxes sold out yesterday, so I quickly took new photos and uploaded a nested set using the same Mame puzzle boxes and a 2.5-sun box with an ichimatsu pattern. This ichimatsu pattern is made from the same yosegi sheet that I use for the 3.5-sun cube. Nested puzzle box sets have steady popularity, and I receive orders for them from time to time. However, I sometimes hear comments that they feel a bit small. Well, since the inner box is a Mame puzzle box, the outer box naturally becomes small as well 😅 Recently, I have also started thinking about making a larger nested puzzle box set.
I am planning to make a slightly more premium 5-sun puzzle boxes using the yosegi sheet that I pasted today. When I say “premium,” I do not mean that it has many steps. Instead, it will be a carefully made box, such as one with a drawer. The number of steps will not be very high, but the work will be detailed and time-consuming. Because of this, I am thinking that the selling price may be higher than that of a 5-sun 36-steps puzzle box.

In the afternoon, using the materials I prepared yesterday, I made the Aruki moving panels and the top and bottom panels with a striped pattern for the 4-sun 14-steps puzzle boxes. I completed both of these tasks in one stretch during the afternoon. This time, the striped pattern is the same for both the top and bottom panels. However, when making them, I slightly adjust how tightly each panel is fitted when it is attached. Because this is a 14-steps puzzle box, the bottom panel is a fixed panel. Fixed panels need to be made slightly loose. If they are made too tight, the panel can bend when it is glued in place. In contrast, even if the top panel is a bit tight, it can be adjusted and loosened later. I am planning to do the assembly work tomorrow morning.
