14 steps Yosegi(top panel)/Ichimatsu 4 sun Japanese puzzle box Himitsu-bako [4-14ywi]

Only the top panel is covered with traditional yosegi. The pattern of the traditional yosegi varies from box to box. The bottom panel is covered with sliced natural walnut wood, and the side panels feature an Ichimatsu (checkerboard) yosegi pattern made from four different types of wood.

This is a 4-sun size Japanese puzzle box. “Sun” is a traditional Japanese unit of measure; 1 sun is about 1.18 in / 3.0 cm. This puzzle box requires 14 steps to open. It was handcrafted by Hiroyuki Oka.

"The Japanese puzzle box (Himitsu-bako) is made only of wood, environmentally-friendly products. This a one of traditional art work of Japan. The origin goes back even to the Edo and Meiji era (1800s) in Japan. It has been handed down by the very few craftsmen. I am crafting full-time these puzzle boxes by myself. I had training for 10 years and I'm crafting these Japanese puzzle boxes and Yosegi-zaiku for over 20 years. All items are made in my workshop and shipped to you directly.
