More yosegi panels

Today was another sunny and dry day with great weather. I went out for a bit in the morning, so I couldn’t get a lot of work done, but I continued working on the 27-steps puzzle box. The next step for this box is attaching the outer side panels. However, when I prepared the panels with the yosegi for this step, I realized I had made a mistake!

This time, I’m making about 40 boxes, but I only had enough prepared panels for around 20 of them! Of course, I haven’t used the others already—so I must have made a mistake when calculating how many to prepare…😂

Each box has four side panels, so I actually needed 160 pieces after cutting and processing them. But I probably misunderstood and thought I only needed enough for two sides, so I ended up preparing just 80 pieces. Mistakes like this sometimes happen...
So today, I quickly prepared more boards and pasted the yosegi sheets. Thankfully, it was a very sunny and dry day, so I hope the panels will dry quickly. Fingers crossed…😅

Since the work on the 27-steps box got a bit interrupted, I moved on to making and attaching the top and bottom panels for the square boxes I built last week and had stored in structural form. I’m making three types of designs for this box, and I decided to first finish the one with the "one-point yosegi" design, since that’s the one I’m making the most of.
For this box, I first attach plain panels and then add the one-point yosegi just before applying the finish. It’s a simple box, but it’s actually one of the very popular ones.

See you next week, have a great weekend!
