Width of 5-mm

It looks like the weather will start to change a bit tonight, so I worked on making the Aruki panels (moving panels) for the smallest 12-steps box while the humidity was still low.

The process of making these panels is mostly the same as for the standard Mame boxes and 12-steps puzzle boxes. At the final stage of the process, I make a small cut in the Aruki panel to create space for the "Bocchi." This box has a Kannuki (slide keys), so the Bocchi part is essential.

The "Bocchi" is a small wooden piece that works together with the outer Kannuki to move the internal mechanism. All puzzle boxes with a Kannuki include a Bocchi.

Since this box is very small, the Botchi width is just 5 mm. 5 mm seems to be just the right size for this tiny box. Unfortunately, I don’t have a blade that’s exactly 5 mm wide. So, I made the cut in two passes using a 3 mm blade. I haven’t needed a 5 mm blade before, so I didn’t have one prepared. But if I start making this type of box more often, I think I should get one.

The Aruki panels were successfully completed. Because of the small size, the gluing surface for the outer panels is also very limited, so I need to be extra careful during assembly.

Wishing you a nice weekend!
